Blower Door Testing
A Blower Door is used to find air leakage in your home, by quantitatively measuring air changes per hour.
A Blower Door is a powerful fan that mounts into the frame of an exterior door. The fan pulls air out of the house, lowering the air pressure inside. The higher outside air pressure then flows in through all unsealed cracks and openings so we can locate the leakage areas.
Natural air leakage, or air infiltration, occurs when outside air enters a house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. Properly air sealing such cracks and openings in your home can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs, improve building durability, and create a healthier indoor environment.
Note: that air sealing alone can't replace the need for proper insulation throughout your home, which is needed to reduce heat flow.

Thermal Imaging
Our home inspections typically range approximately 3 hours depending on the size of the house. You are invited to follow along with your inspector as he performs your inspection. By being present at the inspection I can familiarize you with the home and explain things to you as we move through the house.
​Thermal imaging, or thermography uses infrared technology to detect very small differences in temperature. Every material has a unique thermal signature and when moisture, heat, or cold are introduced into the structure the thermal signature changes. These changes can be subtle or dramatic but with infrared scanning technology, the thermal signatures are detected where they wouldn't be able to be seen with the naked eye.
Energy Loss Testing
Heat loss and/or cold air infiltration can be detected using an infrared camera and blower door testing. It is a fast and effective tool for identifying areas where insulation is missing or has failed so that corrective action may be taken. Once the opportunities for improvement are identified a mitigation process can be executed and then the home or business can be retested to ensure the work preformed was done Correctly. These changes can make a dynamic difference in energy consumption which means lower utility bills and assist with making the home healthier.
